Putin mocks European leaders, signals support for pro-Russian forces in EU
Russian leader Vladimir Putin called the current EU leaders aiding Ukraine "insignificant" and claimed they would be replaced by an "alternative" with an "independent view"
He made this statement to the propagandist from the Russia 1 channel, Pavel Zarubin.
“Today you look with surprise at some people. They have no education. They're clearly not in their rightful roles," Putin said about the leaders of European countries.
"It's some kind of disaster. Just political insignificance," he added.
According to Putin, the lack of "independent thought" in Europe leads to the emergence of various "alternatives." "And then, to fight these alternatives, they try to resort to bans," he noted.
He then began listing "prominent European political figures," including Gerhard Schröder, whom he considered the closest to him among all German federal chancellors in the past 25 years.
According to him, the "independent thought" of European politicians can be seen as their autonomy from the U.S.
"I assure you: Trump, with his character and determination, will bring order quite quickly. You'll see, it will happen fast, soon. They will all be at the master's feet, wagging their tails gently. Everything will fall into place," Putin concluded.
Putin’s allies in Europe
Currently, the most pro-Russian governments among EU member states are those of Slovakia (Prime Minister Robert Fico) and Hungary (Prime Minister Viktor Orbán).
Political analysts also believe there is a risk of the pro-Russian oligarch Andrej Babiš returning to power in the Czech Republic, which could jeopardize the ongoing large-scale ammunition supplies to the Ukrainian Armed Forces initiated by the current president, Petr Pavel.
In Germany, the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) and the far-left Sahra Wagenknecht's Alliance are gaining popularity, both of which Putin may be hinting at. Both political forces support Russia and promise to halt aid to Ukraine if they gain government positions.
