Poroshenko calls for targeted hellish sanctions against Iran, which supplies Russia with kamikaze drones
Ukraine should break diplomatic relations with Iran, and the world should impose hellish sanctions because of Tehran's transfer to Putin's regime of kamikaze drones that kill civilians.
Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
He called for punishing the Kremlin's ally and recognizing Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism.
"The cynical and barbaric Russian attack against civilians of Ukraine and critical infrastructure facilities with the use of Iranian drones is another war crime by the Kremlin, for which full responsibility will surely come. The Russian terrorist regime has been given a place on the dock a long time ago. This is not even open to doubt. And for this to happen as soon as possible, it is also important to deprive Russia of allies," Poroshenko wrote.
"First of all, Ukraine and the world should introduce targeted hellish sanctions against Iran in order to close all opportunities for further criminal cooperation between Moscow and Tehran. Everyone who helps or thinks of cooperating with the Kremlin should understand that they too will end their path just as inglorious and shameful as Putin," the fifth president notes.
Poroshenko also called for intensifying international pressure in the case of the downing of the Ukrainian plane in the sky over Tehran in 2020.
"The guilty must be brought to justice. 176 people were killed then. Today, Iranian drones only worsen the deadly list of innocent victims. It is a matter of honor for Kyiv and the world to punish the guilty both for the catastrophe then and for acts of terror today" - Poroshenko is convinced.
In his opinion, now is the right time to discuss the break in diplomatic relations between Kyiv and Tehran. Depriving the accreditation of the Iranian ambassador in Kyiv is clearly insufficient and disproportionate to the level of cynicism that Iranian drones in the hands of the Russian occupier represent.
"With its deliberate acts of terror against Ukraine, the entire civilian population of our country, Russia seems to be specifically asking to be included in the list of countries that sponsor terrorism. Right next to Iran, which is already there," Poroshenko summarized.
