Pope arrives in Hungary to talk to Orbán about Ukraine
On Friday, April 28, Pope Francis arrived in Hungary for a three-day visit to meet with Orbán and talk about peace in Ukraine
Telex reported that the Pope has begun his first trip to Hungary since he was hospitalized with bronchitis in March. Francis will stay on his apostolic journey until April 30.
The pontiff will lead an open-air mass in front of the parliament building in Budapest and meet with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
It is expected that the main topics of the Pope's speeches and talks will be the war in Ukraine, migration and the Christian roots of Europe.
Orban said that Hungary and the Vatican are the only European states that can be called 'pro-peace' towards Ukraine.
At the same time, the Hungarian Prime Minister and the Pope called for a ceasefire in Ukraine and negotiations to end the war. Francis called on Ukraine to be open to dialogue with the aggressor, Russia.
