Russia achieves none of its goals in Ukraine, loses 700,000 troops - NATO Military Committee chief
Espreso correspondent Tetiana Vysotska notes that today, January 15, the two-day meeting of NATO's Military Committee began in Brussels
She shared this information on the Espreso TV channel.
“The meeting is closed and classified, as it involves the Chiefs of General Staff from all NATO member states. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and the Head of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, spoke before it started,” Vysotska said.
According to her, Rob Bauer highlighted that the main topic of discussion is providing assistance to Ukraine. He stressed that NATO must be prepared to defend the Euro-Atlantic region from external threats and safeguard the billion people living there. Strengthening defense capabilities, ramping up weapons production, and continuing support for Ukraine are priorities already agreed upon by NATO leaders.
“Admiral Rob Bauer shared a very interesting fact: Russia has failed to achieve any of its objectives in Ukraine but has lost 700,000 soldiers killed or wounded,” the correspondent stated.
Vysotska noted that NATO acknowledges the need to prepare for potential Russian aggression — if not immediately, then in the next 4-5 years.
“For now, Russia is waging hybrid warfare against NATO states through cyberattacks, threats, sabotage, and even targeting individuals. China, North Korea, and Iran are helping Russia in its war against Ukraine and the entire Euro-Atlantic region,” she added.
- According to a Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) survey, 46% of Ukrainians consider joining NATO more important than becoming an EU member.
