Russia launches over 40 missiles, 70 drones at Ukraine: Zelenskyy on massive attack
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says that the targets of Russia's January 15 attack were Ukraine's gas infrastructure and energy facilities
He wrote about this on Telegram.
"Another massive Russian strike. Midwinter, and the target for Russians remains unchanged: our energy infrastructure. Among the targets are gas facilities and energy systems that sustain normal life for people. Over 40 missiles were launched, including ballistic ones, with at least 30 intercepted. Additionally, there were over 70 Russian attack drones overnight," the president wrote.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine consistently needs to strengthen its air defense capabilities. He reminded that commitments made by partners at the NATO summit in Washington and within the Ramstein format are not yet fully implemented.
Zelenskyy emphasized that during the meeting, they discussed licenses for producing air defense and missile systems, which could serve as one of the effective security guarantees for Ukraine. He stressed that this is both realistic and necessary to accomplish.
- On the morning of January 15, the invading Russian army launched missiles across Ukraine. Critical infrastructure facilities in the Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions were damaged.
