OSCE PA supports creation of special tribunal to bring Russians to justice for war crimes
The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly has approved the resolution of the Ukrainian delegation on the OSCE's actions in the context of Russian armed aggression, supporting the establishment of a special tribunal to bring Russians to justice for war crimes in Ukraine
Deputy head of the Ukrainian Servant of the People parliamentary faction Yevhenia Kravchuk reported this.
"Finally, the resolution supports the establishment of a special tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine to bring Russian officials to justice, and calls for the condemnation of the Russian state ideology of Ruscism," the statement says.
In the PA resolution, the OSCE also called for convening statutory meetings only in those countries that support visa bans for Russian parliamentarians. The OSCE PA will not hold meetings in those countries that are ready to issue visas to Russians. In addition, the resolution calls for not appointing Russian parliamentarians who support the war against Ukraine to responsible positions in the Assembly until the armed aggression ends.
The resolution also calls for the establishment of an Ad Hoc Committee in support of the Ukrainian Parliament to improve coordination of consultations between parliamentarians on a wide range of issues related to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This is also necessary to provide assistance to the Ukrainian people.
"The document confirms the need to adopt amendments to the Rules of Procedure regarding the temporary suspension of the mandate of a state's parliamentary delegation in case of violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of another state," Kravchuk emphasizes.
She also notes that this is the first time in history that an international document mentions Ruscism as the state ideology of an aggressor country.
*Ruscism, also known as Rashism, Russism, is a term used by a number of scholars, politicians and publicists to describe the political ideology of the Russian state. Ruscism sounds like “fascism,” but with an “r” sound instead of an “f” at the beginning; it means, roughly, “Russian fascism.”
