American politicians are being too cautious
Secretary Blinken's latest statement is frankly disappointing
That the US did not immediately support Ukraine's strikes on Russian territory. Perhaps these were just normal diplomatic phrases, including to avoid irritating Republicans and other skeptics, and it is obvious that American politicians are very cautious in the context of their own elections, but the words were harsh.
I'm not a military expert, but I don't really understand how to win a war without bothering the enemy. That is, to strike only at the Ukrainian occupied territories, where everything is already smashed to pieces? Yelabuga, where Shaheds are being assembled, Olenya, where bombers take off from, Belgorod, where logistics operates, shouldn't be touched?
It seems to me that all Russian military bases, oil refineries that produce fuel for the machines of murder, airfields, accumulations of their troops, shells and equipment, navy, aviation, their military and political leadership, everything that kills Ukrainians is a legitimate military target. Otherwise, this terrible war will last forever and will take millions of Ukrainian lives…
We thank the United States for its advice and assistance, but now it is very important for us to get weapons to destroy the enemy. We hope that the US Congress will unblock the promised military aid. Washington, as one of the signatories to the Budapest Memorandum, is one of the guarantors of Ukraine's security. Ukraine has not attacked anyone. And in order to protect ourselves from the 10-year terror of the Russian Federation, we definitely have the right to protect and defend ourselves in the way we consider necessary and effective.
Well, these recent statements by the US Secretary of State once again confirm that the only real guarantor of our security is the Armed Forces and Ukraine's membership in NATO. No bilateral security agreements will ensure this.
