Only collective defense: Chaly on future Ukraine's defense
Diplomat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the US (2015-2019) Valeriy Chaly believes that Ukraine should receive collective protection from Russian aggression
He expressed this opinion in the Verdict with Serhii Rudenko program on Espreso TV.
"We need to talk to our partners now about what will happen after the hot phase of the war. How we will protect the country from possible Russian attacks. Our allies are increasingly saying that we need to give Ukraine the ability to defend itself in the future, and this is very worrying. Because the vision of Ukraine being able to defend itself every time by mobilizing a million people is the wrong vision for the country. Then there will be no development. The right vision is when there is collective responsibility and collective defense. And we are hearing less and less of such signals from NATO," emphasized Chaly.
According to the diplomat, Ukraine will devote a lot of energy to this war. We cannot prepare for the hot phase of the war again in 3-4 years.
"We need to convince our partners that the only way to protect ourselves is through collective defense. We need a policy of prevention, without waiting to be attacked," emphasized Chaly.
