Diplomat explains why Biden won't permit to strike at Russia before Trump's inauguration
Roman Bezsmertnyi, a diplomat, noted that in the United States, a joint commission for the transfer of affairs from the previous president operates between the election of a new president and his inauguration
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
“As for allowing Ukraine to fire long-range weapons at Russian territory, there will be no such decision while Biden is in the White House. If Trump were there, I could hypothetically believe such a decision could be made. This status, when the United States has two presidents, a newly elected president and a “lame duck” (outgoing president), is actually impotent for both. As practice and experience show, this is the period when the greatest disasters on planet Earth begin. The reason is that the system hangs up, because in most cases, a joint commission for the transfer of cases is in place at this time. As a result, this commission stops such decisions,” the diplomat explained.
In his opinion, it is unreasonable to hope for coordinated decisions from Washington in the months before Trump's inauguration.
“What is possible at this time? Obviously, there are contractual obligations that the US and the Pentagon will fulfill. I do not doubt that. Especially since there is a little less than $8 billion left, which is unallocated, untransferred, undelivered to Ukraine. As for the deliveries from Europe, the same amount as before remains. The other thing is that the current government crisis in Germany creates certain communication problems. In fact, the French cannot resolve their government crisis either. Now Europe does not have the triad that used to solve the problem of communication with Washington. These are Paris, Berlin, and London. That is why the EU is now facing problems in establishing a system and content of communication with Washington. Let's hope that Europe will manage to establish contact with the Trump team in the coming weeks,” Roman Bezsmertnyi concluded.
