Russian army storms Nestryha Island following pause — Ukrainian Southern Forces spokesman
Russian troops have resumed assaults on Nestryha island, Kherson region, after a pause
The spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, Dmytro Pletenchuk, shared the information on the United News telethon.
"We have 19 attempted assaults, which is quite a lot. Of these, 12 were in the Orikhiv direction. These are several settlements. Most of them were in the area of Staromayorske. There were also seven attempts to storm the Left Bank, including one to Nestryha Island, and six towards Krynky," he said.
According to Pletenchuk, the escalation on the front line is connected with the preparations for the Peace Summit on Ukraine to be held on June 15-16 in Switzerland. Therefore, Russia is seeking to escalate.
"The enemy has been accumulating its forces for some time in order to escalate once again. This is primarily due to the fact that preparations for the Peace Summit are underway. And this is a traditional way for Russians to exert influence in geopolitics," the spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces emphasized.
