Russia will escalate its ballistic missile attacks on Ukraine - aviation expert
Aviation expert Valerii Romanenko believes that Russian forces are increasing the number of ballistic missile attacks on Ukraine due to the lack of air defense systems capable of destroying them
He told about this on Espreso TV
“I have repeatedly said that the Russians will increase the attacks on the territory of Ukraine with ballistic missiles. They will be focusing on these missiles. They are well aware that we lack air defense systems that can shoot down ballistic missiles. That is why they are now reducing the use of cruise missiles and increasing the number of ballistic missile attacks. Often, the downing rate of cruise missiles and attack UAVs can reach 100%, sometimes 80%. However, to destroy ballistic missiles, we need anti-ballistic missile systems,” Romanenko explained.
According to the expert, Ukraine has only 5 air defense systems capable of shooting down ballistic missiles.
“We need more air defense systems that can destroy ballistic missiles with a direct hit. That is, when an air defense missile shoots down a ballistic missile almost at the final flight path. Such an air defense system does not just intercept the ballistic missile, but triggers its explosion in the air. Otherwise, there is no point in shooting it down. Ukraine has only 5 such systems. In particular, four American Patriot and SAMP-T systems,” he added.
