Russia assesses Ukraine’s war resources, mobilization limits - Ukraine's intelligence
Russia has been calculating how long Ukraine will be able to continue fighting if it mobilizes all people aged 16 and over
Kyrylo Budanov, Head of Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, mentioned this at a private meeting at the Kyiv School of Economics, according to Forbes.
According to Russia's estimates, if Ukraine mobilizes all people aged 18 and over, it will be able to wage war until 2033. Additionally, Russia considered an option where Ukraine lowers the age threshold to 16, in which case it would be able to continue fighting until 2044, Budanov said.
"These are merely Russian calculations. Unlike the enemy, Ukraine values the lives of its citizens. It is unlikely that anyone could sustain a war effort until 2044, let alone until 2060. The point here is primarily in the economy - no economy can endure a state of war for such an extended period. While Ukraine is largely funding the war with external assistance, Russia is using its own resources, and the enemy is aware of this," Budanov added.
He also mentioned that mobilization in Ukraine is challenging because some people are frightened and uncertain. They may not have been adequately informed that serving in the Ukrainian army is not a punishment, but an honor and an opportunity for personal growth, Budanov said.
"Yes, it is a duty, a routine, and a risk, but it is also a true form of freedom - to defend your country and serve your nation. This service is a contribution to both your own future and the future of a free world. The alternative is living under Russian oppression," he emphasized.

Colonel of Ukraine's Security Service Roman Kostenko said that if the pace of mobilization keeps up with June-July, by late 2024 the Ukrainian army will be fully combat ready in quantitative terms.
