Invaders bypass Kharkiv region with prohibited mines that react to vibration from human steps - Denisova
Russian invaders use the latest anti-personnel mines "Medallion" in the Kharkiv region, prohibited by the Ottawa Convention
This was reported by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights Lyudmyla Denisova in Telegram.
"The invaders bypass the Ukrainian land with their latest POM-3 Medallion anti-personnel mines. Cases of using mines with a seismic target sensor were recorded in the Kharkiv region. Russian invaders use them for remote mining of the region's territory", she wrote.
The mine fires and explodes when an electronic seismic sensor detects the vibration of the soil from human footsteps. The warhead of the mine flies out half a meter in height and explodes.
"The use of POM-3 mines is not allowed by the Ottawa Convention on the Prohibition of Anti-Personnel Mines, as they are weapons of indiscriminate warfare", Denisova explained.
Such mines are produced only in the Russian Federation.
