"Fomin took part in a traditional swim in Cheboksary. The prosecutor swam a distance of 2 kilometers and 200 meters. About halfway through, he felt bad," the statement says.
According to the Cheboksary Telegram channel PG21, his heart stopped 150 meters from the shore. Allegedly, rescuers pulled the prosecutor to the shore already unconscious.
The total length of the swim distance is 2 kilometers and 200 meters.
Who was Fomin?
At the time of his death, he was a prosecutor in Chuvashia (Russia). He was 57 years old.
In 2016-2017, he was the 'acting prosecutor of Crimea.'
In total, he worked in the occupied Crimea from 2014 to 2020. In addition to the above-mentioned period, he held the position of the 'first deputy prosecutor of Crimea.'
Natalia Poklonskaya was the occupation 'prosecutor of Crimea' in 2014-2016.
