Five Ukrainian soldiers from Melitopol to go on trial in Russia
A military court in Rostov-on-Don will hear a case against five residents of Melitopol who are accused by the FSB of organizing a 'terrorist underground'
The Russian media reported this with reference to the case file.
The case is being investigated by the FSB office in temporarily occupied Sevastopol in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. According to the Russian special service, the Melitopol residents were members of the 'Union of ATO (Anti-Terrorist Operation - ed.) Participants of Melitopol.'
In total, the FSB detained five people: one contract soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ihor Horlov, and four members of the Territorial Defense Forces - Volodymyr Zuiev, Andrii Holubev, Oleksandr Zhukov, and Yurii Petrov.
The prosecution accused the men of 'participating in a terrorist community' and 'preparing for an act of international terrorism.'
According to media reports, the case file states that the Ukrainian servicemen were preparing explosions at locations where Russian troops were deployed and humanitarian aid was distributed.
According to the FSB, the 'Union of Melitopol ATO Participants' planned to blow up a ZAZ-1102 car, but the special services allegedly managed to prevent this 'terrorist attack.' On April 6, 2022, security forces found a car loaded with explosives in Horlov's garage.
