F-16s in Ukrainian skies will make history for global security architecture – Zelenskyy
In his G7 address at the Hiroshima summit, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the provision of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine an historic moment for the global security architecture
This is reported by the President’s Office.
"For years, we have heard that Russia can attack any country with impunity using hypersonic missiles that seem to be unstoppable. Russia wanted us to get scared and to betray our values, at some point. Well, that's over. “Patriots” in the hands of Ukrainians have shown what democracy is capable of," said Zelenskyy.
He emphasized that the "air shield" can be complete only when ground-based air defense systems are supplemented by modern aircraft in the air.
"When our pilots know the F16 and when these aircraft appear in our skies, it will matter not only for Ukraine. This will be a historic moment for the entire security architecture in Europe and the world," he emphasized.
The president also emphasized that Ukraine would like to see decisive actions in the matter of security guarantees before the NATO summit in Vilnius, which will be held on July 11-12.
"We’re united by one more principle – rationality. We always act practically protecting our values. And the Ukrainian Peace Formula is an obvious expression of rationality. I thank you for supporting our Formula. And I would like to discuss the steps to make the Formula working and the details of the organization of the Peace Summit," Zelenskyy concluded.
