Declaration on the Establishment of a Special Tribunal for Russian Aggression against Ukraine Proclaimed
The group of lawyers in international law prepared and proclaimed a Declaration on the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the Crime of Russian Aggression against Ukraine.
This was announced by the first vice-president of the Ukrainian Association of International Law Mykola Ignatovsky on his Facebook page, Censor.NET reports.
The proclamation of the declaration, according to Ignatovsky, is the first step towards creating a mechanism for the international criminal liability of those responsible for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
"On the legal front, Ukraine is actively using the capabilities of the existing architecture of international justice bodies: the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, the European Court of Human Rights. But none of this, unfortunately, gives a legal opportunity to hold the top leadership of the aggressor state accountable for a crime of aggression, which created the prerequisites for all other international crimes. The jurisdiction of the ISS in this crime is extremely limited and, in the context of Russia's non-ratification of the Rome Statute and its amendments, does not create the necessary jurisdiction in the Court. For the Nuremberg Tribunal, the Declaration on the Establishment of the Special Tribunal was proclaimed today for the crime of aggression against Ukraine”, he explained.
