British MoD comments on command change of Russian troops in Ukraine
By appointing Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov as the commander of the Russian occupation troops in Ukraine, Putin demonstrates a "significant change" in approaches to warfare

The Defence Intelligence of the United Kingdom reported the information on Twitter.
"The deployment of the CGS as theatre commander is an indicator of the increasing seriousness of the situation Russia is facing, and a clear acknowledgement that the campaign is falling short of Russia’s strategic goals,” the British intelligence said.
The body notes that this step will cause a sharp discontent among Russian nationalists and military bloggers, who are increasingly accusing Gerasimov of poor war conduct.
- Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov has been appointed as the new commander of the joint group of Russian troops in Ukraine. Gerasimov's deputies are Chief of the Aerospace Forces Sergei Surovikin, who previously headed the Russian grouping in Ukraine, Chief of the Ground Forces Oleg Saliukov, and Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Alexei Kim.
