Bringing Ukraine closer to EU law: Ukraine parliament approves Law on Official Statistics
On August 16, the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's Parliament) adopted Law №5886 on Official Statistics, which should bring Ukrainian state statistics closer to EU legislation. 255 members of parliament voted "for".
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine on Telegram.
According to the message, on August 16, the Verkhovna Rada adopted Law №5886 on official statistics, which should bring Ukrainian state statistics closer to the statistical system of the EU. 255 people's deputies voted "for".
"The new draft law has been developed on the basis of the framework regulation of the EU. This will make it possible to get as close as possible to EU legislation in the field of statistics", the Ministry of Digital Transformation wrote.
The Law on Official Statistics will allow the creation of IT platforms where all processes (from uploading data to distribution) will be automated and will not depend on a person.
"This will speed up the obtaining of quality data and save the budget and human resources. Also, the submission of paper reports for the collection of statistical data by legal entities will be prohibited. This will be another step towards building a paperless country", the Ministry of Digital Transformation wrote.
"The adoption of the law creates appropriate legal conditions for fulfilling the obligations stipulated by the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement and harmonizing state statistical activity with the requirements of the European Statistical System", Minister Oleh Nemchynov wrote on Telegram.
