President Joe Biden and Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced a joint package of military assistance to Ukraine after telephone talks

The statement says that Biden and Scholz spoke by phone on January 5 to exchange views on the ongoing aggressive war that Russia is waging against Ukraine. They reaffirmed their unwavering solidarity with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in the face of Russia's aggression.
Biden and Scholz expressed their joint determination to continue to provide the necessary financial, humanitarian, military, and diplomatic support to Ukraine for as long as necessary.
The US intends to supply Ukraine with Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and Germany with Marder ones. Both countries plan to train Ukrainian troops on their respective systems.
In the context of Russia's ongoing missile and drone attacks against Ukraine's critical infrastructure, Biden and Scholz reaffirmed their intention to support Ukraine's urgent need for air defense capabilities. In late December, the United States announced the transfer of a Patriot air defense battery to Ukraine. Germany will join the United States in supplying Ukraine with an additional Patriot air defense battery.
