Biden confirms US is considering option of supplying Bradley infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine
US President Joe Biden confirmed that Washington is discussing the supply of American M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Bloomberg journalist Jennifer Jacobs reports from the White House pool.
According to her, Biden answered "yes" when reporters traveling with him asked him if the United States was considering the option of sending "Bradley" while preparing the next package of military aid to Ukraine. However, the US president did not specify other details.
A few days earlier, Bloomberg reported with reference to its own sources that the US government is considering the possibility of sending Bradley fighting vehicles to Ukraine as part of further military support.
As the publication wrote, the final decision has allegedly not been made yet, and no other specifics are known.
Additional information: M2 Bradley is the main infantry fighting vehicle in service with the mechanized forces of the US Army. M2 Bradley entered service in 1981 after trials that had been ongoing since 1964. It was named after the American general of the Second World War, Omar Bradley.
Infantry fighting vehicle is designed to ensure the transportation of motorized infantry units on the battlefield, their combat from the vehicle and their fire support during and after the rush. M3 Bradley combat reconnaissance vehicle was created on its basis. American troops used this vehicle in wars in the Persian Gulf and Iraq.
Unlike M113s that the US previously provided to Ukraine, Bradleys are armed with 25mm cannon and TOW anti-tank missiles. Additional armament is an M240C machine gun paired with cannon. This vehicle can also have installed so-called embrasure weapons - six automatic 5.56 mm fixed rifles in loopholes - M231.
