More HIMARS. US announces new military assistance package for Ukraine
The United States will soon announce a new military assistance package to repel a full-scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine
This was announced by the coordinator for strategic communications of the White House National Security Council John Kirby, writes Anadolu publication.
"We are and will continue to provide them (Ukrainians) the kinds of systems and assistance that they need to defend themselves. That has included HIMARS in the past, and it could very well include more HIMARS going forward," Kirby said.
He claims High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) have proven to be "very effective" for Ukraine. "We are going to continue to support Ukraine with these weapons systems."
Kirby added that the US will continue to provide security assistance to Ukraine "in coming days and weeks as well."
He also responded to Russia's claims that it routinely destroys HIMARS systems. Kirby stated that the U.S. has "no information to support" Russia's claims that it destroyed two U.S. HIMARS multiple-launch missile systems in the Ukrainian Donetsk region.
"And I would remind that we've seen similar reports from the Russians before," he said.
