Ukrainian MP raises issue of extraditing persons liable for military service who illegally left Ukraine
The leader of the ruling party, Davyd Arakhamia, discussed the possible return of Ukrainians who left the country illegally
Davyd Arakhamia, leader of the ruling Servant of the People faction, made these comments during a telethon, Suspilne reports.
Arakhamia mentioned that Ukrainian citizens who left Ukraine using fake medical exemption certificates may be brought back to the country.
Initially, there will be a preliminary examination, which is expected to take a few months. Arakhamia clarified that if any individuals have bribed officials, both parties will be held accountable under the law. Law enforcement agencies will work on legitimizing the evidence and filing charges.
He explained, "What will happen to the people who did this? They will be held accountable according to the laws for offering bribes, forging documents, and evading conscription."
Arakhamia pointed out that international legal assistance requests have increased significantly under Ukraine's criminal code. He concluded that in virtually any country globally, law enforcement authorities can request the extradition of such individuals, ultimately bringing them to Ukraine to face legal consequences.
