EU to provide Ukraine with €3.5 billion aid package in March — European Commission President

She made this statement at the International Summit in Kyiv on February 24.

The President of the European Commission emphasized that the war in Ukraine is not only a domestic matter for the country but a critical issue for all of Europe and the world. She reminded that Russia's main goal remains the capitulation of Ukraine, which could have dangerous consequences for international security.

The European Union continues to actively support Ukraine, having allocated 134 billion euros in aid so far. Additionally, thanks to the Ukrainian Fund and the G7 loan, Ukraine’s budget deficit for 2025 has been covered.

Von der Leyen announced that in March, a new payment of 3.5 billion euros would be sent to Ukraine.

She added that the EU will simultaneously accelerate the immediate delivery of weapons and ammunition. According to her, this will be at the center of the European Commission's work in the coming weeks.

Furthermore, the President of the European Commission announced a package on Ukraine’s energy security, which includes the integration of Ukraine and Moldova's electricity markets with the European market and the development of renewable energy sources.

"All these efforts will lead to greater energy security for both Ukraine and the European Union," von der Leyen said.

• Additionally, on the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the European Union adopted the 16th package of economic and individual sanctions against Russia.
