Norway commits €600 million to support Ukraine’s energy sector, industry investments
Norway has announced a €300 million aid package for Ukraine’s energy sector and the opening of a direct investment channel for the country’s industry
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre made this announcement during the plenary session of the Support Ukraine summit.
According to him, Oslo would provide Kyiv with €1 billion for humanitarian support to civilians. He noted that €300 million would be allocated in response to a request for energy sector support. Additionally, he mentioned that €4 million in financial guarantees would be allocated, and they would continue rebuilding and improving everything they could.
Furthermore, Norway had opened a direct investment channel into Ukrainian industry, with €300 million allocated for this purpose. He also stated that his country could collaborate with Ukraine in many other areas, including drone production.
He emphasized that, on behalf of Norway, €3.5 billion would be allocated in 2025, and they would continue to provide all possible funds.
At the same time, he stressed that "nothing about Ukraine could be decided without Ukraine." He added that Europe could not simply raise its hand and demand a seat at the negotiating table, as the American president might question what Europe could contribute. He explained that this was part of an ongoing dialogue that had been happening for 4-5 weeks, highlighting that Europe and Ukraine needed to secure their place through political, military, and economic strength.
