Putin and Xi Jinping hold phone talks
Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping spoke by phone on February 24, discussing, among other topics, Ukraine

The Kremlin stated that Putin briefed Xi on Russia’s latest contacts with the United States, while the Chinese president "expressed support for the ongoing dialogue between Russia and the U.S."
Beijing also reiterated its willingness to "help find ways to peacefully resolve the Ukrainian conflict."
During the call, Putin and Xi agreed that the "foreign policy coordination" between their countries serves as "a key stabilizing factor in global affairs, resistant to external influence."
Additionally, the Kremlin noted that Xi described Russia and China as "good friends."
- On February 21, reports suggested the Kremlin was trying to make China appear more sympathetic to Russia’s stance on the war than Beijing was willing to state publicly.
- Later, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said China was interested in a just resolution to the war.
