Serhiy Zgurets, military expert and CEO of the Defense Express media and consulting company, highlighted that Russian troops are trying to advance in the Kurakhove direction and may redirect their efforts toward the Toretsk sector

He shared the information on Espreso TV.

"The war follows its own logic despite political battles. The front is influenced partly by weather conditions and partly by the Russian's attempts to break through at certain points. This week, the number of combat clashes peaked at 150, though the highest figures exceed 250 per day. On February 23, there were reports of 40 clashes, showing the impact of weather on combat dynamics. Stabilization is currently observed in the Pokrovsk direction due to improved defensive management and the use of certain forces and means," said the military expert.

According to him, Russia is probing for weaknesses in Ukraine’s defenses, trying to operate in the Kurakhove direction, with a possible shift towards Toretsk.

"Additionally, Russia is active in the Kursk region, where Ukraine maintains a foothold. Russian forces have made some gains in the area. Regarding the capture of Sverdlikove near the Sumy-Sudzha road, Russian troops are likely to intensify their efforts there, understanding its impact on Ukraine’s logistics. Of course, Ukrainian military leadership is aware of these threats and will likely take countermeasures to prevent the enemy from disrupting logistics in this part of the front," Zgurets concluded.

  •  A military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko provides an in-depth analysis of the recent developments in the Kursk region, shedding light on the strategic movements and implications of the ongoing operations.
