AFU should use time while Surovikin is pushed away and Gerasimov takes office - military expert Svitan

Roman Svitan, military expert and reserve colonel of Ukraine's Armed Forces, believes that the Russian army will experience a lack of control during the month, which could be an opportunity for Ukrainian troops to carry out offensive or operational-tactical actions

He said this on Espreso TV.

The military expert commented on the appointment of the head of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, as the commander of the forces fighting against Ukraine, and Surovikin as his deputy.

“The amount will not change from permuting the terms. War is mathematics, so the management of troops will not change at all from the change of generals. The only thing is that there is a certain time lag after the new commander takes office, that is, there is about a month to perform certain actions for appointing their people in separate directions or replacing the management system itself. Accordingly, during this month, the Russian army will experience a lack of management and perhaps this will be a window of opportunity for our troops to perform some offensive or operational-tactical actions that can bring us success, precisely because of the lack of management during the reshuffle at this level,” the reserve colonel of Ukraine's Armed Forces explained.

Roman Svitan noted that all the negativity associated with the surrender of the right bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson and the Kherson region, as well as the increase in attacks on civilian infrastructure, which in its purest form is genocide of the Ukrainian people, was blamed on Surovikin.

“Surovikin, who took on all the negativity, was pushed "behind the closet", as it is called in the staff work. These are generals who do not work in the field, that is, they are people who manage pieces of paper, not troops. Therefore, it makes no sense to pay much attention to such actions, such processes are aimed at an internal audience. The Russians must now show some sort of military management or an attempt at such management in the media field. Moreover, recently some hot-headed people who imagined themselves to be generals and marshals started a certain discrediting campaign among these parquet generals, therefore, perhaps, in order to cool down these heads and show them their place, General Gerasimov was appointed,” Svitan noted.
