Zelenskyy, Biden meet at G7, US president announces new Ukraine military aid package
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with US President Joe Biden at the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan
A photo from the meeting was published by the President of Ukraine on Telegram.
At the meeting, the American president announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine worth $375 million.
“The United States continues to do all we can to strengthen Ukraine's ability to defend itself,” Biden said.
Biden added that the new sanctions against the Russian Federation will provide pressure on Putin to bring his supporters to justice.
He expressed his support for a just peace in Ukraine and stated that the country's territorial integrity and sovereignty are non-negotiable.
"What you've achieved is a matter for the entire world and we are in awe of what you've done so far. Together with the entire G7, we have Ukraine's back and I promise we're not going anywhere," said Biden.
The Pentagon reported that it includes:
- additional ammunition for HIMARS;
- artillery shells;
- TOW anti-tank guided missiles;
- Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems;
- bridge-layer systems;
- armored medical vehicles;
- trucks and trailers for transporting heavy equipment;
- thermal imaging systems;
- spare parts and other field equipment.
