AFU reduce Russia's ability to produce shells: Defense Express on drone strikes
The Ukrainian drones attacked not just a refinery near Nizhny Novgorod, but the oil refining enterprise Sibur-Kstovo, a Putin-linked plant supplying materials for explosives
This was reported by Defense Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevsky on the air of Espreso.
"The strike on one of the oil refineries in the Nizhny Novgorod region of the Russian Federation hit one of the facilities that produces explosives for the Russian military-industrial complex. If we look at it in more detail, we can say that this is Putin's asset. The Sibur-Kstovo plant has now reduced the ability of the Russian military-industrial complex to produce artillery shells and rockets for the war against Ukraine. It is part of Putin's zone of influence and fills the treasury of the Kremlin dictator. This is a painful blow to the Russian aggressor, not only to the Russian state machine, but also to Putin's wallet. This is a significant blow," he noted.
Regarding the second segment, data has appeared on the destruction of the Kristal Complex, which supplies the Engels airfield, one of the bases for Russian strategic aviation. According to satellite images, after two strikes, 20% of the 58 available tanks were hit, Kyrychevsky said.
"At least eight more raids on this airbase are needed to achieve a significant result. If it is possible to hit the oil depot up to 50%, the Russians will not be able to keep their strategic aviation at this base, which will reduce their ability to use the Tu-95MS and Tu-160 to strike the territory of Ukraine. This will be an important precedent worth fighting for," he added.
- On the night of January 29, Ukrainian drones hit the Lukoil oil depot in the city of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region. The Russian Defense Ministry claims to have intercepted and destroyed 104 drones.
