“Ukrainian troops are carrying out large-scale looting in Kursk": disinfo on August 16
Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation has published a selection of anti-Ukrainian fakes that were released by the world media on August 16
According to the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, disinformation and manipulation appeared in the world on August 16.
Disinformation: Irish journalist Chay Bowes wrote on his page in X: “Ukrainian forces are carrying out large-scale looting in Kursk. They are also brutally attacking civilians, killing many unarmed people fleeing the fighting.”
Refutation: This is a false statement, which is part of a Russian information campaign aimed at discrediting the Ukrainian military amid the operation in the Kursk region.
Manipulation: Former advisor to the US Secretary of Defense Douglas Macgregor wrote on his X page: “Ukraine breaching a soft spot in Russia's border was likely carried out based on US intelligence. This was a done to create the illusion they are making progress so the DC warmongers will send them more money.. Make Peace You Fools!”
Refutation: In his statement, Douglas Macgregor promotes the idea that instead of continuing to fight Russian aggression and achieve strategic military success, Ukraine should negotiate with the enemy on its terms, which essentially dictate Ukraine's surrender.
