Russia to be invited to second Peace Summit in November - Zelenskyy
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Russia will be invited to the second Peace Summit scheduled for November. He also revealed plans to meet with U.S. President Joe Biden in September to discuss a strategy for Ukraine's victory
Le Monde reports.
According to Zelenskyy, Kyiv aims to hold this second summit in November and extend an invitation to Russia. At the Yalta conference, Zelenskyy stated that he would meet with U.S. President Joe Biden to present a detailed plan for Ukraine’s victory in the ongoing war with Russia.
"I will present President Biden a victory plan - a set of coordinated solutions designed to strengthen Ukraine and steer the war toward peace," Zelenskyy said. He emphasized that this plan could lead to a lasting peace and ensure the full implementation of the peace formula.
“This plan focuses on Ukraine and our military. There are not many points, but I believe it’s effective. Each element of the plan will depend on Biden’s decisions, not Putin’s. While I can’t guarantee it will stop Putin, it will certainly strengthen Ukraine,” the Ukrainian president explained.
Zelenskyy added that the plan will first be presented to President Biden, followed by U.S. presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. It will also be shared with Congress, as many decisions will involve lawmakers.
He noted that more details about the victory plan might be revealed after further consultations with Washington.
- On July 11, it was reported that Ukraine aims to hold a second Global Peace Summit before the U.S. presidential elections in November 2024, possibly with Russia's participation.
