Dutch Defense Minister offers insight on countering Russian military superiority in Ukraine
Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren suggested that Ukraine's position on the frontlines could be strengthened by boosting the supply of ammunition, drones, and air defense equipment
She shared this perspective during an interview with LRT.
When asked about the pace of Western aid to Ukraine, Ollongren admitted it's challenging to assess.
"If you inquire from a Ukrainian soldier in the trenches, it's likely that assistance is perceived as insufficient and arriving too slowly. However, war is a complex and dreadful reality," the minister remarked.
Ollongren underscored that Russia currently holds a certain advantage on the frontlines.
"Nevertheless, I firmly believe that we have the capacity to alter the situation by ramping up production, especially of ammunition, along with deploying drones and other advanced technologies, which are extensively utilized in Ukraine. Strengthening Ukraine's air defense capabilities will be crucial for success. It's imperative that we actively support Ukraine," Ollongren emphasized.
- Additionally, the Dutch Defense Minister revealed that the country intends to commence sending F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine in the autumn, as announced the day before.
