American democrats suffer complete technological failure
U.S. Democrats made several strategic mistakes in the campaign
The first is the choice of a candidate. In a time of global turbulence, Americans decided they wanted a strong leader, not polished "too-smart" figures with starched collars. The U.S. has not been ready for a female president in 2016, and is still not ready in 2024.
The second was the choice of a vice presidential candidate. Josh Shapiro would have appeared to be a stronger candidate than Harris herself, which unsettled her team. They chose Tim Walz instead—projecting a "homey grandpa" image but lacking the qualities of a fighter. Since neither Harris nor Walz fulfilled the role of a strong leader (as described in point 1), they found themselves losing to opponents who were rolling forward like a tank.
The third point is a strategy the White House could have considered: transferring full authority to Harris in the final month before the election. This would have allowed the Democrats to showcase her abilities. Yes, there might have been challenges with Joe Biden, but for a dramatic campaign finale, it was a risk worth taking—things couldn’t have worsened significantly. Kamala, as mentioned, could have demonstrated the strong leadership qualities outlined in point 1. However, it appears that Harris’s and Biden’s teams haven’t been cooperating closely as of late.
Instead, it was a complete technological fiasco for the entire party.
The main flaw in the Democrats, evident since the Obama era, is a pervasive indecision — a kind of "paralysis by analysis." This has led to a detachment from reality and a loss of initiative.
Instead, the United States ended up with politicians who take the exact opposite approach. There’s a high risk they’ll make so many questionable decisions, but they bring energy and zeal. There will be plenty of spotlights and applause from the crowd — and it certainly won’t be boring. C'est la vie.
Well, now we are all, the whole world, in the front rows at the screening of a new global thriller.
