Hate, manipulation, and “pain points”: media expert on how Russian propaganda works
Inna Gadzynska, deputy editor-in-chief of Texty.org.ua, highlighted Russia's significant boost in propaganda both in Ukraine and globally
She spoke about it on Espreso TV on June 12.
"Russian tactics have been evolving even before the full-scale invasion, as seen in various reports, including the US State Department's 2020 report. The Russians aim to spread efforts widely, using local figures, activists, and sensitive issues," she remarked.
Gadzynska stressed that recent focus on mobilization in Ukraine has led to increased Russian pressure to sow panic and chaos.
She also stated that journalists from Texty.org.ua recently compiled a list of American politicians, media figures, analysts, experts, and organizations opposing military aid to Ukraine, totaling 392 individuals and 77 organizations.
According to Gadzynska, when the journalists published their findings, they faced opposition from two Americans who attempted to discredit the research, labeling it a "firing squad of Americans who are enemies of Ukraine." The journalists clarified that they did not label anyone as an enemy of Ukraine. Additionally, Texty.org.ua highlighted that the list was accompanied by a comprehensive study which the critics had not read.
Gadzynska explained that the critics began spreading misinformation, accusing journalists of targeting American citizens for financial gain.
