German Defense Minister in Odesa announces new €500 million aid package
Boris Pistorius, German Defense Minister, pledged a new arms package for Ukraine worth 500 million euros during his visit to Odesa on May 30
This was reported by DW.
The visit of the high-ranking German official was kept secret for security reasons. While in Odesa, Pistorius announced a new military aid package, which includes medium-range and short-range missiles for IRIS-T air defense systems, reconnaissance and strike drones for operations in the Black Sea region, equipment for repairing German artillery and Leopard tanks previously transferred to Ukraine.
Some of the German aid is ready for shipment to Ukraine. However, the delivery of 18 wheeled howitzers of a new design will start in 2025. Germany will also fund training courses for Ukrainian technicians, Pistorius assured.
“We will continue to support you in your defense efforts,” Pistorius emphasized during a meeting with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
