USD 1 billion aid package for Ukraine: number of Bradleys, other armored vehicles revealed
The US assistance package, announced on April 25, includes a significant provision of 1000 units of HMMWVs alone
Defense Express revealed the number of vehicles included in the US aid.
Although the recent $1 billion aid package did not specify the quantity of weapons being supply, certain public Pentagon reports did partially list the aid, particularly under the category of armored and automotive vehicles.
Specifically, the aid announcement mentioned the provision of an unspecified number of Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, MRAPs, and HMMWVs. However, immediately following the publication of this list, the US Department of Defense updated the comprehensive list of weapons transferred to Ukraine in the Fact Sheet on US Security Assistance to Ukraine.
A comparison between the lists for April 24 and March 12, when the emergency aid package was provided, reveals the following difference:
- 1,000 HMMWVs
- 500 MRAPs
- Over 14 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles
It's worth noting that the count of IFVs in the general list is now indistinct, listed as over 200 instead of the previously stated 186 units. Hence, "over 14 Bradley" in this context is an approximation. Furthermore, according to the revised lists, Ukraine received more than 200 tactical trucks.
“The supply of 1,000 HMMWVs in a single package signifies a substantial quantity. Until now, a total of 2,000 units had been delivered over two years. Similarly significant is the doubling of the number of unnamed armored vehicles in the MRAP category; previously, 500 had been sent, and now the number is expected to reach 1,000,” the outlet said.

Regarding the MRAP model itself, it's highly likely that additional MaxxPro units were supplied. This 14-ton MRAP has demonstrated its effectiveness on the battlefield and garnered positive feedback from soldiers.Meanwhile, other transferred weapons, including ammunition and anti-tank weapons, remained unchanged in the updates as they were already indistinct. For example, the quantity of over 2 million 155-mm shells and more than 10,000 Javelins remained the same.
