Espreso has collected another selection of news that brings us closer to victory.
War on Russia's territory
The Ukrainian Armed Forces can enter the territory of Russia if it is necessary for the defense of Ukraine, said Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security Council. He believes that the Ukrainian military is not obliged to ask anyone for permission if it is necessary to protect Ukraine.
“If there’s a need to be where we need to defend our country, we will be there, and we won't ask anybody. All that talk about provoking someone is sheer nonsense,” he said.
However, for now, the march to the territory of the occupying forces can still wait. They themselves do well with the "self-destruct" option. According to the Russian media, their own missile fell in the Volgograd region of Russia. The wreckage, similar to a cruise missile, was discovered by residents of Ilmen village, about 20 kilometers from the village. Visually, the wreckage resembles parts of a long-range cruise missile - Kh-101/Kh-102 - AS-23 KODIAK.
Even more captured Russian soldiers
Ukraine's Armed Forces increased the number of the exchange fund - they captured 52 Russian soldiers in recent days. According to Serhii Haidai, the head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, during the previous week, the occupiers began to surrender more often.
“They really surrender. They are being left in forest strips. In this way, we increase the exchange fund. Now they have intensified mobilization again. They issue summonses to everyone. They no longer find out what their age and their state of health is. Summons are issued to men at every checkpoint,” the head of the Luhansk region said.
A lot of weapons is the fastest way to peace
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called on NATO countries to continue supplying arms to Ukraine. He believes that a peaceful negotiated solution that will ensure the survival of Ukraine as an independent democratic state will emerge if the allies provide enough weapons to fight Russia.
“It may sound paradoxical, but military support for Ukraine is the fastest way to peace,” he said. Stoltenberg also made it clear that he considers the recent Ukrainian attacks on military facilities in Russia to be absolutely legal.
In addition, it became known that Joe Biden has already signed the law on the country's budget, which provides USD 45 billion in aid to Ukraine.
Russian soldiers and their radar station were destroyed
During the past day, it was recorded that the hospital in Bilovodsk, Luhansk region, was overcrowded with wounded Russian servicemen. In particular, a dozen soldiers were wounded and killed in Donetsk. In addition, 2 units of military equipment were destroyed, and another 3 were damaged, the General Staff reports.
The aviation launched 5 strikes on Russian military positions. Also, during the day, Ukrainian military shot down an enemy reconnaissance UAV of the Orlan-10 type.
The units of the missile troops and artillery hit 6 Russian military positions, 5 munitions depots, and a radar station.
Patriotic fiction
The first teenage novel about the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UIA) was published in Ukraine. The Eye of the World novel by Halyna Pahutiak from Lviv became the first teenage novel about the UIA in Ukraine.
The winner of the Shevchenko National Prize wrote this novel and its sequel before the full-scale war. As she herself tells, she wrote the book at a time when Ukrainian children were being told lies in order to protect them from hatred of the enemy. But she is convinced that where there is no hatred, there is no love.
“A 14-year-old boy owns a weapon, hates Russian occupiers and is by no means a victim of war. With his unwavering faith in the Ukrainian resistance, he does not break where even adults break,” Pahutiak said.
