Russian forces likely control part of Ukraine's Kurakhove - military observer
Invading Russian army intends to encircle the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Uspenivka and Kurakhove in Donetsk region
Military observer Denys Popovych said this on the Espreso TV channel.
"There is information about the presence of Russian troops on the territory of Kurakhove itself from the eastern part. They control a certain part of the city. The Russians are advancing from the east, from the north, from the Kurakhove Reservoir, and have already taken control of some settlements," he said.
The Russians are advancing from the east, threatening to cut the road to Zaporizhzhia, which runs east of Kurakhove, Popovych said: "This can happen not only in one point, but in several threatening places, such as the village of Kostiantynopil and Uspenivka, where a cordon is gradually forming.”
According to him, the weather may make it difficult to retreat along normal roads and they will have to go through the fields.
"The first snow has fallen, which will obviously melt and turn into mud. Then it will become even harder to move with equipment. So everything is very worrying, unfortunately, and so far the trend is that the enemy is advancing and making progress," the military observer added.
- On November 21, Russian troops managed to capture the village of Dalne in the Kurakhove sector.
