Victoria Nuland unveils how long Ukrainian counter-offensive has been prepared
U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland said that Ukraine's counter-offensive had been prepared for about 5 months
She said this during the 15th annual Kyiv Security Forum, founded by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation, according to the forum’s website.
"Ukraine will win and be prosperous. This is what we are working on in Washington. While you are planning a counter-offensive, which we have been working on together for 4-5 months, we are starting to discuss the future of Ukraine with the Ukrainian government, with our friends in Kyiv, with civilians and the military," she said.
The Deputy Secretary of State added that the United States is currently helping Ukraine build its security and military capabilities in such a way that they will be a sufficient deterrent to Russia so that it will not be able to start a new war in the future.
In addition, she said, Ukraine has everything to move towards EU membership.
"Speaking about the Ukrainian economy, it is not only about survival, but also about prosperity. We believe that Ukraine has everything it needs to move towards its membership in the European Union and play a significant role not only to prosper on its own, but also to contribute to the growth of resilience and harmony in the whole of Europe," said Victoria Nuland.
Ukraine, she noted, is able to create jobs in the IT and manufacturing sectors, as well as provide jobs for IDPs and Ukrainian defenders who will return from the front after the war.
As a reminder, the 15th annual Kyiv Security Forum "For Our Freedom and Yours / Fighting for NATO" is taking place on 25-26 May with the participation of prominent international figures. The Forum will, among other things, form the Security Council and adopt a resolution with recommendations for the NATO Summit in Vilnius, which will be held in July.
