According to officials, the Biden administration will purchase an advanced medium-range and long-range NASAMS anti-aircraft missile system for Ukraine, which will allow the country to defend its forces from a long distance.
Biden's decision to authorize the transfer of the new system was made only a day after Russia fired missiles at Kyiv. Russian forces shelled the capital at the same time as the G7 summit in Germany.
According to a NYT source, the equipment will be paid for from an emergency funding fund provided by Congress to help Ukraine.
