Ukrainian forces push Russian troops back from Kupyansk
Ukraine's defence forces have driven the Russian army back from Kupyansk and are controlling the situation on the outskirts of the town
Nazar Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Khortytsia military grouping, said this during a telethon.
According to him, the occupying Russian forces are trying to move in small assault groups and accumulate.
‘We managed to stabilize the situation in that area, and the enemy was driven back from the town (Kupyansk - ed.). The enemy's equipment and vehicles trying to cross to the other side are immediately destroyed by our firepower and FPV drones. Everything there is under the control of our Defense Forces. Even if some groups of 8 or 10 people are crossing, about 2-3 of them make it ashore. That is, the enemy is destroyed there as well,’ Voloshyn said.
Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, also noted that Russians crossed the river by boat to the right bank of the Oskil River in Kupyansk district, but Ukrainian defenders destroyed such groups.
‘Yes, there were such facts. Subversive and reconnaissance groups are constantly testing the defensive positions of our military and using different tactics. They cross Oskil by boat, and walk through minefields. And our soldiers detect all these facts and try to destroy the enemy as much as possible on the approaches to Kupyansk and other territories. Active fighting has been going on in that area for two days,’ he said.
- On November 22, Yuriy Fedorenko, commander of the AHILLES battalion of the 92nd Detached Assault Brigade named after Ivan Sirko, said Russian enemy failed to complete the task of reaching Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi by November 1.
