The Russian media outlets RIA Novosti and Interfax reported the information.
The individual in question is Edward Pryor Wilkes, the second secretary of the political department at the British Embassy. The FSB stated that the diplomat "deliberately provided false information" when applying for permission to enter the Russian Federation, thereby violating Russian law.
They also added that they “found signs that he was conducting intelligence and subversive activities that threaten the security of the Russian Federation.”
As a result, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the British ambassador.
