Russian forces attempting to encircle Pokrovsk, says Suspilne Donbass editor-in-chief
Andriy Kramchenkov, the editor-in-chief of Suspilne Donbas, noted that approximately two-thirds of all assaults currently occurring on the Russian-Ukrainian front are concentrated in the Donetsk region
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
“The whole of Ukraine is fighting in the Donetsk region, brigades from absolutely all regions are involved. About two-thirds of all the assaults taking place at the front are in the Donetsk region. The most active area is Pokrovsk,” noted Kramchenkov.
According to the editor-in-chief, Russian forces are currently attempting to encircle Pokrovsk from two directions: from the southern flank along the river and the eastern flank toward Myrnohrad, actively advancing in these areas. This direction has become a priority for them. Additionally, they are focusing considerable effort on the Kurakhove direction, where intense fighting is occurring within the city of Kurakhove itself or its outskirts.
The editor-in-chief of Suspilne Donbas also noted that Russia continues to amass forces around Chasiv Yar. However, they remain unable to confidently cross the Siverskyi Donets-Donbas canal. This is due to two key challenges: the canal itself as a water barrier and the open terrain surrounding it, which complicates their advance.
"That is why they have now abandoned the tactic of massive assaults," emphasized Kramchenkov. "Instead, they are employing small infantry groups and attempting to outflank Chasiv Yar. Their advance is focused along the road toward the village of Stupochky, which may also become a priority direction."
- On November 25, at least 191 combat clashes took place at the Russia-Ukraine front. Russian forces are attacking the Pokrovsk direction the most.
