Ukrainian diplomat discusses future trajectory of Russia's war on Ukraine
Valeriy Chaly, Ukraine's Ambassador to the US and chairman of the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center, said that the Russian Federation is ready to freeze the war now in order to prepare and strike again
He stated this on Espreso.
"The war began in 2014, and when we answer the question “How long will it last?'' we must understand what we are talking about. The conflict of various forms and varying degrees of intensity will continue for a very long time, until Ukrainian victory, we have no other way to preserve the state, our country and people," he said.
Chaly also added that he is not a supporter of making military predictions, but he does not see the readiness of the Russian Federation to establish peace.
"They are ready to freeze the conflict now, prepare, and strike again. That is, if we are talking about peace, we need to ask what kind of peace we are talking about. The kind of peace Russia wants is not permanent, and they want to keep the stolen territories and factories. Therefore, we need to talk about a long period here, but this period depends on consolidation and pressure on Russia from all sides: military, sanctions, economic, and political. No one can tell you today how long this conflict will last with such intensity, it all depends on many factors," said Chaly.
Regarding the support of the United States of America to Ukraine, Chaly noted that they have committed to supporting Ukraine as long as necessary.
