Ukrainian Armed Forces tell what new positions look like near Bakhmut
Major Rodion Kudriashov, deputy commander of the 3rd Detached Assault Brigade, says that the recaptured positions in the Bakhmut sector are key for the Ukrainian offensive
He said this on Espreso TV.
"In the Bakhmut sector, we are gradually freeing up meters that improve our tactical position on the front line. It is extremely important to move forward and not only dislodge the enemy from their positions, but also to apply pressure. If the recaptured positions are located in populated areas, they have nothing to do with settlements. The settlements have been wiped off the map, including Bakhmut," emphasized Kudriashov.
According to the fighter, the recaptured positions can be described as areas in destroyed houses, in scrap metal, which the Ukrainian Armed Forces are adapting as fortifications for defensive combat.
"If these positions are located in a field or forest, all the forest strips are mowed down by continuous artillery shelling from the enemy. It is difficult to hold such positions. Our infantry are holding on to these positions by the skin of their teeth because they are key for further actions in the direction of Andriivka, Klishchiivka and Kurdyumivka," explained Kudriashov.
