Ukraine recaptures part of Opytne, Donetsk region — Ukrainian Defense Ministry
On Monday, September 11, Ukraine's Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malliar has confirmed that part of Opytne village has been liberated by the defense forces. Over the week, the Ukrainian army has de-occupied another 2 square kilometers in the Bakhmut direction
She made the statement in a live interview with Military Media Center.
"There was advancement made near Opytne, the Ukrainian Defense Forces recaptured a part of this settlement," said Maliar.
According to the deputy minister, Ukrainian troops also had a partial success in the area of Novomayorske, Donetsk region, over the week.
Thus, Ukrainian defenders are now consolidating their positions in the areas where they have been successful.
Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated 2 square kilometers in the Bakhmut direction last week
"Over the past week, the liberated territory there (in the Bakhmut direction- ed.) amounted to about 2 square kilometers," said Maliar.
She added that during the offensive campaign near Bakhmut, 49 square kilometers of Ukraine's territory have been liberated so far.
Furthermore, the Ukrainian Defense Forces achieved success near Klishchiivka and Andriivka in this area.
According to Maliar, Ukrainian defenders pushed Russian troops out of their positions, so there is some progress.
In the southern direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces succeeded near Robotyne and Verbove, liberating 1.5 square kilometers of territory
According to Hanna Maliar, the Ukrainian offensive continues on the southern front.
"In the course of last week's offensive, we had successes south of Robotyne and west of Verbove," said the Deputy Defense Minister.
She added that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are consolidating their positions in these areas. The Ukrainian military has made progress and achieved some success in this area.
Malyar said that over the past week, the Defense Forces liberated another 1.5 square kilometers on the southern front.
According to her, Ukrainian troops are facing serious obstacles, but "Russia’s first line of defense" has already been broken through in some places and "our troops are advancing."
