Ukrainian AN-124-100 Ruslan aircraft transports 67-ton turbine from US to Australia
Antonov Airlines has transported a large solar turbine from the US to Australia, and Ruslan was the only aircraft that could make the delivery
This was reported by the company's press service on Facebook.
“The total weight of the cargo was 67 tons, including additional equipment and a solar turbine weighing 35.5 tons, 11.33 m long and 3.63 m high. The size of the cargo determined the AN-124-100 aircraft type as the only option for transporting the unit by air,” the statement says.
After successful delivery from San Bernardino, USA, to Avalon Airport, the Australian company Air Charter Service transported the cargo to Winchelsea, Victoria.
There, the solar turbine and additional equipment will be used at the gas compressor expansion plant.
