Ukraine needs help now, not after "Christmas eggnog": White House appeals to Congress
The White House has drawn attention to the latest statements by Russian leader Vladimir Putin regarding his intentions in Ukraine and called on Congress not to delay the adoption of new aid for Ukraine
This was stated by the White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby, Ukrinform quoted him as saying.
"Nearly 20 months after he launched his brutal and barbaric invasion, Mr. Putin said today that — that his aggression in Ukraine will not end and there will only be peace, quote, 'when our goals are achieved,'" Kirby said.
According to him, he hopes that those House Republicans who "held hostage critical assistance to Ukraine heard Putin’s message loud and clear."
Kirby noted that while members of the House of Representatives go home this week for the Christmas holidays, the Ukrainian people will continue to experience attacks on their peaceful cities: "They [the Ukrainians - ed.] need our help. And they need it now, not after the eggnog."
- The US Senate has postponed its Christmas vacation, which was to begin next week.
