Manipulation: no longer aggressor and victim, but “parties to conflict”
Notice how, despite all international norms and principles, the narrative was imposed not about the aggressor and the victim, but about "two sides of the conflict"
This explains the actions of Orbáns, Szijjártós, and African leaders seeking mediation. They themselves need to resolve both internal and external conflicts.
It is the countries that are able and obliged to do so that can act as mediators, or rather as an effective party to resolve the problem of violations of the UN Charter: The United States, the United Kingdom, France, China, and the Russian Federation.
The Russian invaders have already put themselves on the other side of the process as the cause and main party to the war, and China is not yet ready for a balanced position…
Therefore, only the United States, the United Kingdom, and France can be mediators (or rather parties to the problem) in establishing a lasting peace. If China takes on a fair role, then they can do so as well.
And no one else!
Otherwise, it will not be mediation at all. It will be an attempt to “fish in muddy waters” for themselves, to play along with the aggressor, and to imitate the process.
Perhaps they will be able to advance their interests. But what does this have to do with Ukraine?
